B-day 2011

Hey my friends,

I will tell a little bit about my birthday, how it was and what I did yesterday. But first of all I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those made my day more than special. Either with a smile, a message on Facebook or Orkut (another social network, pretty common in Brazil), SMS, e-mail, skype call or chat, phone call or even knocking on my door at midnight ;-)


Even though I am living in Helsinki for a short time, I am glad to commemorate my birthday with few new friends! We met in Molly Mallone's Irish Pub on Monday (remark: Monday a pint costs only 3.5Eur). You can see us in the picture right bellow :)

"But who did take the picture?" some asked me few days after I published it.

Well, it is a good question and a little awkward to explain.

We arranged to meet at 8pm and I tried my best to be there on time. We (me and a spanish girl) managed to arrive only a half hour late or so. For our surprise there were not Finns there waiting for us (and many people still insist that brazilians, latinos, spanishes, are always late). Anyway, as soon as we founded out that we were the first ones, we got a table. In few minutes we realized the table was quite small.

I looked to the other side and there were a perfect table for our group. But, always there is a but, it has being used by two guys. What a pity!

After a short while they left and without considering if they would return, I suggested to the group moving to another table. Someone suggested waiting a bit... "No", I said. "If they come back, they can easily take our table", I completed the sentence.

Thereafter, a few more people arrived and someone said to me: "good idea, this spot is perfect!". Of course the complement did not long much, when one of us pointed towards the two guys standing nearby us!

Luckly not everyone understood the situation, because only half of the group were there when we conquered the new table, and most of them were ordering something at the bar.

I tried to see how the situation was around and may be suggest them to take our former place - too late, someone else already did!!

What else could I do? If you replied: 'apology as you did not intended take their place and ask if they would like to join our group', you are right!

It turned out they were from Spain. Then we talked a little bit in Spanish, I told that was my birthday and so... I asked them to take a picture of all us.

Simple isn't it? Or we could ask any random guy... but is better be cheeky!

My birthday gift: one liter beer can.
